Thousands of devotees are expected to travel to the Tiruttani Murugan Temple for the Aadi Krithigai festival, one of the most important celebrations dedicated to Lord Murugan. With a large number of pilgrims expected from Chennai and nearby districts, devotees have requested Southern Railway to operate more EMU suburban trains to Tiruttani to make travel easier.

Aadi Krithigai Festival Trains
Many devotees from Chennai suburbs prefer travelling by EMU trains because they are affordable, frequent and convenient. However, passengers say the existing train services are not enough to handle the heavy rush during the festival. They have urged railway authorities to introduce additional special trains from Chennai and nearby suburban stations to Tiruttani to reduce overcrowding.
Devotees Concerns
Another concern raised by devotees is the lack of proper connectivity between Arakkonam railway station and the new bus terminus in Tiruttani. The newly shifted bus stand is located about 4 km from Arakkonam railway station, forcing passengers to depend on auto-rickshaws or other local transport after getting off the train. Pilgrims, especially elderly people and families carrying luggage, have requested better transport facilities between the railway station and the bus stand.
How will Festival Special Trains Benefit Passengers?
Devotees have suggested that additional EMU services from Chennai suburbs directly to Tiruttani would help reduce travel time, avoid unnecessary transfers and make the journey more comfortable. They have also requested more frequent town buses or shuttle services between the railway station and the bus terminus during the festival period.
Railway and transport authorities are expected to review the demand as thousands of pilgrims are likely to visit the temple during the Aadi Krithigai celebrations. Improved train and bus connectivity would help manage the festival rush, reduce crowding and provide a smoother travel experience for devotees travelling from Chennai and neighbouring districts.
