Architecture in India has always remained amazing for its exquisite and intricate work. Since the Indus Valley Civilization to the Mughal Ages, Indian architecture have always mesmerised and soothed the nerves. Influence of rulers belonging to different dynasties are reflected on the carvings of the monuments. Architecture of temples is one of the most popular things which tourists look forward to.

Further the invasion of British, French, Dutch and Portugeese enriched the Indian architecture. In the modern era, the uniqueness has further enhanced which is not limited to the temples or monuments. Stations, government buildings and educational institutions are also a part of the amazing Indian architecture. These architectural features have been one of the major tourist attractions of India.

Amazing architecture at historical sites and spectacular monuments have now become a hub for budding architects. Here listed are some of the architectural wonders of India which will always be admired by those exploring the country.

One of the amazing architecture of Orissa, the Konark Sun Temple attracts tourists throughout the globe. It resembles a grand chariot of Sun God where tweleve pairs of wheels are carved on stone. This temple reflects the Kalinga architecture and is built out of Khondalite rocks. Its unique positioning towards the east makes the first sunrays strike the entrance.

The "white marble mausoleum" in Agra is one of the world heritage sites. Other than being recognized as one of the symbols of love, the monument is admired for its amazing architecture. Though renowned as a masterpiece of Mughal architecture, Taj Mahal also bears the reflection of Persian, Ottoman Turkish and Indian architectural styles. Jail screens are found surrounding the cenotaphs.

Famous as Buddhist pilgrimage, the unique architecture of Sanchi Stupa resembles the life of Buddha. Four toranas or gateways which are symbolic of trust, courage, love and peace have highly architectural entrances. This monument is one of the best specimen of Buddhist architecture, where Brahmi inscriptions plays a major role. The architecture was idealized by many Hindu structures of that period.

Another example of finest Mughal architecture is Fatehpur Sikri. Situated at Agra, the monument bears a synthesis of the Gujarat and Bengal craftsmanship. Other than Islamic influence, reflections of Hindu and Jain architecture is also seen at Fatehpur Sikri. Constructed of red sandstone, the architect behind this amazing architecture was Tuhir Das. It is also said that Akbar took great interest in the architectural style of Fatehpur Sikri.

Lotus Temple is highly noted for its unique flower like architecture which won it numerous awards. It is the pilgrimage spot for Bahaiand represents their architectural features. Bahai scripture forms an important part of this amazing architecture. Iranian architect, Fariborz Sahba designed this famous monument. While the surface is made of white marble, there are 27 free standing marble petals which is inspired from the lotus flower.

Kailash Temple is one of the best Indian temple architecture. It represents Dravidian form of architecture. The rock sculptures represents the influence of Pallava dynasty. The intricate craftsmanship of the architect can be seen here. It is a part of Ellora caves in Maharashtra and is cut out of one single rock. The architectural work descended from top to bottom while it was constructed.

Jaisalmer Fort stands tall and mighty amidst vast stretches of sand of Thar desert. Walls are constructed of yellow sandstone, whose colour changes with the position of the sun. It is one of the best specimen of Rajput architecture and is also known as Golden Fort. There are three layers of wall where the outer one is made up of solid stone.

The amazing architecture of the temple comprises of 14 gopurams or towers and two golden sculptured shrines, constructed over the main deities. High walls of the temples have four entrances in four different directions. Its unique architecture has mention in Tamil literature where the temple is at the core of the city of Madurai and streets leading to the temple gives the look of petals of lotus flower.

One of the marvellous wonders of modern architecture can be witnessed at Chandigarh Legislative Assembly. As it was constructed after the partition of Punjab, the basis of the architecture focussed both on traditional past and the upcoming future. Le Corbusier was the chief architect who structered large assembly and high court buildings. Along with the newly designed city Chandigarh, this was also an outstanding work of the architect.

Also known as Victoria Terminus, it is one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites. The amazing architecture of this railway station is inspired by Victorian Gothic style and traditional Mughal monuments. The arches and turrets also reflect the influence of ancient palatial architecture in India. Wood carvings, brass railings, giant staircases feature this railway station.

The amazing architecture at Khajuraho are made of sandstone. Megalith were used for the columns and architaves. The erotic sculptures are carved on the walls of the monuments. It is one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites and one of the seven wonders of India. The sculptures are mostly of human beings like muscicians, potter, farmers and love making scene of men and women.

The unique craftsmanship and artistry is incredible and the statue is also world's largest monolithic statue.
