Karnataka Orange Alert on Saturday

The weather department has also issued an orange alert for several districts of Karnataka on Saturday due to the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall. The districts under the orange alert include Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Kodagu, Belagavi, Dharwad, Haveri, and Davangere, where heavy rain is expected over the weekend.

Apart from these districts, many other parts of Karnataka have been placed under a yellow alert, indicating the possibility of moderate rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning. The IMD has advised people living in vulnerable areas to remain cautious, especially in places that are prone to waterlogging, landslides or flooding.

Reason behind Karnataka's Rainfall

The ongoing monsoon has already brought widespread rainfall across Karnataka over the past few weeks. Coastal and Malnad regions have been receiving continuous showers, while parts of south interior Karnataka, including Bengaluru, have also witnessed intermittent rain. According to the IMD, rainfall activity is likely to continue for the next few days, although the intensity is expected to gradually reduce from August 1 in some parts of the state.

Advisory for Residents

People travelling over the weekend are advised to check the latest weather updates before leaving home. Motorists should drive carefully on slippery roads, while those living near rivers, low-lying areas or hilly regions should stay alert for any weather-related warnings. The IMD has urged residents to follow official advisories and take necessary precautions during periods of heavy rainfall to ensure their safety.
