Shravani Mela Special Trains: Indian Railways to Introduce Several Services and Temporary Station Halts

Indian Railways has announced several special train services and temporary station halts to help devotees travelling during the month-long Shravani Mela, which officially began on Thursday. These arrangements aim to make travel easier for thousands of pilgrims visiting famous Lord Shiva temples in Jharkhand.

Shravani Mela Special Trains

According to the Ranchi Railway Division, Train No. 08895/08896 Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Itwari-Madhupur Weekly Festival Special will run via Ranchi from August 1 to August 30. The special train will provide direct rail connectivity to Madhupur railway station, an important stop for devotees heading to Deoghar during the festival.

In addition, the Railways has introduced two pairs of bi-weekly Ranchi-Bhagalpur Shravani Mela Special trains. These trains will operate via Rajabera and Barkakana railway stations and will continue running until September. The extra services are expected to reduce crowding on regular trains and offer more travel options to passengers during the festival season.

Shravani Mela Special Train Halts

The Chakradharpur Railway Division has also announced temporary halts at Mahadevsal railway station in West Singhbhum district. A total of 22 pairs of trains, including 11 pairs of express trains and 11 pairs of MEMU trains, will stop at the station until August 28. This will make it easier for devotees to reach the famous Mahadevsal Temple, located in the Saranda forest in Goilkera.

Every year, thousands of pilgrims visit the temple to perform Jalabhishek, a ritual in which water is offered to Lord Shiva during the holy month of Shravan.

Some of the major trains that will halt at Mahadevsal station include the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus-Shalimar Express, South Bihar Express, Howrah-Titlagarh Ispat Express, Howrah-Kantabanji Ispat Express, and Puri-Yog Nagari Rishikesh Express. Several MEMU trains running between Tatanagar and Rourkela will also stop at the station, providing better connectivity for local passengers and pilgrims throughout the festival period.
