Patna Zoo or Sanjay Gandhi Jaivik Udyan is located near Bailey Road. The zoo makes a considerable effort to conserve endangered species and has met with considerable success at captive breeding.
The zoo is currently home to over 800 animals hailing from 110 species, such as tiger, leopard, clouded leopard, hippopotamus, crocodile, elephants, Himalayan black bear, amongst many others. The zoo took birth as a botanical garden and thereby, contains more than 300 species of trees, herbs and shrubs.
The park also includes an aquarium which boasts of 35 species of fish and the snake house has 32 snakes belonging to 5 species.
