Union Minister of State for Planning and Gurugram MP Rao Inderjit Singh on Thursday asked Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) to explore a new metro line along the Dwarka Expressway, connecting Kherki Daula to the Airport Metro Line, which currently ends at Yasho

Bhoomi station. The direction was given during a review meeting on Gurugram's metro, RRTS corridor, and other city infrastructure projects, attended by officials of Niti Aayog, Ministry of Statistics, HMRTC, NCRTC, DMRC, GMDA, MCG, NHAI, and the district administration.
Dwarka Expressway to Link Other Metro Routes
The minister emphasized that the instant execution of Gurugram's metro projects without delays, such as the Old Gurugram Metro line. He said extending the Airport Metro line to Kherki Daula would link it with the NCRTC's upcoming RRTS project and HMRTC's Pachgaon metro plan by instructing departments to clear hurdles affecting metro and road projects. Officials stated that a ridership study on the Dwarka Expressway route will be conducted soon, and work has started on the detailed project report (DPR) for another line from the Airport Metro to Iffco Chowk.
Delay of Old Gurugram Metro Line
Singh also directed civic agencies to resolve bottlenecks on the Hero Honda Chowk-Umang Bhardwaj Chowk Road, where a six-lane upgrade and metro alignment are planned. GMDA officials informed that only one property dispute remains pending in court, with a hearing scheduled for September 23. Moreover, the minister also discussed extending the Delhi-SNB RRTS corridor to Bawal in Rewari, citing its industrial importance. He questioned delays in the Old Gurugram Metro line, which was announced in 2016 but has not been executed, resulting in doubled costs despite the Prime Minister laying its foundation stone in February 2024. The Gurugram Metro extension, being executed in two phases, is expected to finish by 2029.
