The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has announced that Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Metro Station, also known as Vidhana Soudha Metro Station, will remain temporarily closed on Saturday, August 15. The decision has been taken because of the Independence Day 'Freedom Habba' celebrations being held at Vidhana Soudha.
Bengaluru Metro Operations for Independence Day
According to BMRCL, the station will be closed for both entry and exit from 10 a.m. to 9.30 p.m. The move is aimed at managing the expected crowd and ensuring the safety of passengers during the celebrations. Metro trains will continue to run normally along the route during this period. However, they will pass through Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Metro Station without stopping.
Bengaluru Metro's Advisory for Passengers
BMRCL said passengers will be allowed to enter the station from 9.30 p.m. after the main event ends. However, passengers will not be allowed to exit the station until 10 p.m. These restrictions are being introduced to ensure the smooth movement of people and prevent overcrowding around the station.
The Metro Corporation has also said that additional train services may be operated if required. This will help manage the expected increase in passenger numbers after the Independence Day celebrations. Passengers who need to travel through the area during the closure period have been advised to use Cubbon Park Metro Station or Sir M. Visvesvaraya Metro Station, Central College, instead. BMRCL has urged passengers to plan their journeys accordingly and use the alternative stations to avoid inconvenience.
