Patna is all set to get its first modern metro service, which will provide the city with a faster and more reliable transport option. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate the Patna Metro rail project on September 29, according to BJP sources. The Election Commission is likely to

announce the Bihar assembly elections in the first week of October, after which the model code of conduct will come into effect. The first stretch of Patna Metro will begin operations between three stations: New Patliputra Bus Terminal, Zero Mile, and Bhootnath. Elections in Bihar are expected to be held after the Chhath festival (October 25-28), most likely in three phases during early November, similar to the 2020 assembly polls. Once operational, the metro will run daily for 14 hours, giving commuters a convenient way to travel across the city.
Patna Metro's New Features to Enhance Commutation
Officials stated that three elevated stations and a depot are ready, while the three-coach trains have also been completed. Each coach can carry about 300 passengers, allowing around 900 people to travel in one trip. The trains are well-equipped with modern safety features, 360-degree CCTV coverage, and an emergency button that allows passengers to contact the driver if any problem occurs. Five stations, New Patliputra Bus Terminal, Zero Mile, Bhootnath, Khemnichak, and Malahi Pakadi have been built, but only three will be open to the public for now. The metro is expected to ease daily travel, reduce traffic jams, and lower pollution levels by encouraging more people to use public transport instead of private vehicles.
The Bihar Special Armed Police (BSAP) will ensure safety at all metro stations with strong security forces during the launch. Passengers will go through metal detectors and baggage scanners before entering, for smooth and secure journeys.
