On Monday morning, after a long weekend, thousands of passengers crowded Bangalore's Namma Metro stations, causing packed trains on all three lines to run. Stations on Tumakuru Road, Majestic, RV Road, Kengeri (on Mysuru Road), and others saw very high footfall. The crowd was so heavy at Yeshwantpur that security staff

had to temporarily close entry gates from 8:50 am to 9:03 am to control the rush. According to a BMRCL official, this kind of crowd is common after long weekends. By 5 pm, nearly 6.7 lakh people had travelled on the Green, Purple, and Yellow lines.
Commuters' Response to Post-Festive Rush
Reddit users on Monday morning shared their grief and frustration in a satirical way, as traffic congestion again led to delays, followed by similar replies from others. One user shared a screenshot from a navigation app showing it would take 1 hour and 53 minutes to travel 35 km by two-wheeler, highlighting how the peaceful holiday vibe was gone. Another commuter shared that a 6 km trip took 48 minutes, rather than the usual 30. One person joked, "Just Monday things," adding that the E-City flyover helped them avoid traffic.
A resident posted images of crowded streets and Namma Metro stations on Monday morning, saying, "Huge rush as people return after Dasara Festival." The sudden traffic spike was due to office workers and schoolchildren heading back after the long weekend and Gandhi Jayanti holidays. While traffic jams are common in Bengaluru, the shift from the quiet holiday days to the hectic Monday was especially tough for commuters, who are now preparing for another week of slow-moving traffic and long travel times.
