Mile, and Bhoothnath stations. The metro project is being built by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and the Bihar government, aiming to address traffic problems in the city and provide a modern, eco-friendly public transport option.

Linking of Patna Junction to ISBT

This 3.6 km section belongs to Corridor II, which will eventually link Patna Junction to ISBT over a 14.5 km route, with five elevated and seven underground stations. With this launch, Patna will become the 24th Indian city to have an operational metro. A day before the launch, Patna DM Thiyagrajan SM, City SP (East) Parichay Kumar, traffic SP Aprajit Lohan, and DMRC and PMRC officials inspected the Bhoothnath station. The inauguration will be held at 11 am at the ISBT depot, from where the chief minister will ride the metro to Bhoothnath. The three-coach train will then return to ISBT and to the depot, running at 40 kmph. Public services will begin on Tuesday, from 8 am to 10 pm, and tickets and tokens will be available at stations, with fares ₹15 to ₹30.

Patna Metro Features Modern Facilities

Each train can seat 158 people, including 12 reserved seats for women and passengers with disabilities, and has standing space for approximately 940 people. The coaches include charging points, emergency doors, and sliding doors. The artwork inside reflects Bihar's culture, with visuals of Golghar, Mahavir Mandir, and Buddha in saffron shades. Stations feature modern amenities such as lifts, escalators, ticket machines, digital displays, platform screen doors, food courts, shops, waiting areas, and information desks.

Additional Depots and Metro Stations

The 76-acre depot at Ramachak Bairiya will also open. It can handle 32 trains and includes workshops, inspection bays, washing units, a control centre, and a sub-station. Two stations, Malahi Pakri and Khemnichak, will open by late 2025. The full elevated priority corridor is 6.5 km long. The underground part of Corridor-II covers 8.08 km, with stations Patna Junction, Akashvani, Gandhi Maidan, PMCH, Patna University, Moin-ul-Haq Stadium, and Rajendra Nagar. The ₹13,925-crore project began in 2019 but faced delays due to the pandemic and land & funding. Work on Corridor-I, from Danapur to Khemnichak (17.9 km), is also underway.
