Roads of Uttarakhand and Rajasthan to Match US Standards: Nitin Gadkari

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari announced ambitious plans to elevate the road infrastructure in Uttarakhand and Rajasthan to match the standards of the United States. Promising an investment of approximately ₹2 lakh crore, Gadkari emphasized the Centre's commitment to developing world-class roads and highways.

Gadkari Unveils Mega Infrastructure Plan

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of multiple road projects in Udaipur, Gadkari expressed his satisfaction with the construction of roads in Rajasthan, stating that they now stand on par with global standards. The minister also revealed plans for electric buses on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, aiming to cover the distance between Delhi and Jaipur in just two hours, with fares 30% lower than diesel options.

In Uttarakhand, Gadkari declared that the state's roads would attain international standards by the end of the year. With ongoing projects like the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, the region anticipates a substantial reduction in travel time between Delhi and Dehradun.

Notably, the Uttarakhand road network, spanning 3,608 km, will witness an infusion of funds to reach the ₹2 lakh crore mark, with the central government allocating an additional ₹60 crore for the purpose. The proposed Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor is expected to play a pivotal role in enhancing connectivity and fostering economic development.

Shifting focus to Rajasthan, Gadkari highlighted the launch of 17 road projects worth over ₹2,500 crore in Udaipur, aiming to boost Mewar's overall development. The Union Minister outlined the construction of a 67-kilometre four-lane expressway from Bandikui to Jaipur at a cost of ₹1,370 crore, slated for completion by November 2024. He assured that the journey from Delhi to Jaipur would be shortened to two hours upon its completion.

Gadkari proudly shared that the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, featuring an animal overpass - a first in Asia and second in the world, aimed to ensure animal safety during road crossings. The express highway projects in Rajasthan, amounting to ₹60,000 crores, along with the ongoing Delhi Mumbai Express Highway, costing ₹1 lakh crore, have been progressing steadily, with ₹22,000 crore worth of work completed in the state.

As the government unveils these transformative infrastructure initiatives, it marks a significant leap towards enhancing connectivity, promoting economic growth, and positioning both Uttarakhand and Rajasthan on the global road map. The comprehensive plans reflect a commitment to modernizing transportation networks and fostering sustainable development across these states.
