Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Friday launched several new train services for passengers in Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh through video conferencing. He flagged off the new Chhapra-Delhi Express, inaugurated the Mau-Delhi Express, and also announced the extension of the Doharighat-Aurihar passenger train up to Varanasi City.

New Train Services in Bihar
These programmes were held during a function at Chhapra Junction railway station. Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary was also present at the event along with other officials and public representatives.
Speaking at the function, Vaishnaw said these new services were part of the promises he had made during his visit to Doharighat on May 11. He said the railway ministry had worked quickly to fulfil those commitments and improve train connectivity for people in the region.
Railway Developments in Bihar
The minister said the central government is giving special attention to the development of railway infrastructure in Bihar. He pointed out that before 2014, Bihar used to receive only around Rs 1,000 crore every year for railway works. But now, the annual railway budget allocation for the state has gone up to nearly Rs 10,000 crore, showing a major rise in investment.
Vaishnaw also spoke about the many railway development works being carried out in Bihar and nearby areas. These include the redevelopment of railway stations, the construction of new railway lines, and the doubling of tracks to improve train movement and reduce delays. He said these projects are aimed at making railway travel smoother, faster, and more comfortable for passengers.
The railway minister also mentioned the proposed Delhi-Varanasi-Patna bullet train corridor, which is expected to be a major high-speed rail project in the future. He said such large infrastructure projects will improve regional connectivity, support economic growth, and provide better transport facilities to the people.
