Kolkata Metro services were disrupted early on Tuesday morning after a power supply problem caused a train to stop inside a tunnel between Rabindra Sadan and Netaji Bhawan stations. The incident occurred during the busy morning hours, causing inconvenience for many daily commuters who depend on the Metro for their regular travel.

Power Failure
According to Metro officials, the train could not move due to a power failure. Passengers on board were safely rescued and guided out of the tunnel. They were then taken securely to Netaji Bhawan station. Authorities confirmed that the rescue operation was carried out smoothly and that no injuries were reported.
Partial Operations of Blue Line Metro
While technical teams worked to fix the power issue in the affected section, Metro services were only partially operational on the Blue Line. Trains continued to run between Dakshineswar and Maidan stations on one end, and between Tollygunge and Sahid Khudiram stations on the other. However, services remained suspended in the stretch where the train had stopped.
Disruption Caused Delays
The disruption caused delays and crowding at several stations, especially during peak morning hours when passenger traffic is usually high. Many commuters were forced to wait longer or look for alternative travel options, leading to frustration and confusion.
Statement of Metro Authorities
Metro authorities stated that temporary changes were made to train operations to ensure the safety of passengers and to keep services running on unaffected parts of the line. Officials assured commuters that teams were working continuously to restore normal services as quickly as possible.
Metro officials later confirmed that the restoration work was completed successfully, and normal train services were fully resumed across the entire Blue Line at 8:46 am. After the issue was resolved, trains began running as per the regular schedule, bringing relief to passengers and helping ease the morning rush.
