Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) plans to extend its Phase II pink line further to reach the Kizhakkambalam region, where Infopark is developing its Phase III campus. Officials from Infopark have confirmed that they have already held initial talks with KMRL about this extension. Currently, work on the Pink Line

is in progress, and KMRL is expecting to complete it by 2026. According to the existing plan, the line will stop near Infopark's Phase I campus. However, Infopark wants the Metro line to be extended to their upcoming Phase III campus to ensure better connectivity.
Infrastructural Developments to Employ People
Infopark CEO Sushanth Kurunthil said that Metro access is a top priority for the Phase III project. He explained that the new integrated township will be one of the largest infrastructure developments in Kerala and is expected to employ nearly 2 lakh people and 4 lakh people connected to the campus, both directly and indirectly. With such a large number of people depending on it, good transportation is essential. During early discussions, KMRL officials said they would consider extending the line to cover the new campus.
Additional Land Acquisitions
Further talks will take place once the land pooling process for the Phase III project is finalized. The new campus will be located in Kizhakkambalam panchayat under Kunnathunadu taluk. The CEO added that they hope the Metro extension will progress in parallel with the land acquisition. It has been reported that the Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA) has already identified vacant plots, including unused paddy fields, near Wonderla Amusement Park for the project, which is only about 2 km from the Phase II campus.
Currently, the Phase II line covers 11.2 km, and if extended, it will also provide Metro access to Infopark's Phase II campus, benefiting a lot of commuters.
