Heavy rainfall continues to drench various parts of Bengaluru city, with the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting similar weather conditions for the next five days. The city has been experiencing waterlogging, traffic disruptions, and inconvenience to commuters over the past few days, along with other regions in Karnataka state. This pattern is expected to persist for a few more days. However, the residents are finding relief from the recent heat wave as temperatures have dropped significantly.

On Monday, May 13, Bengaluru woke up to another pleasant morning, recording a moderate temperature of 26°C. Across Karnataka, heavy rain and thundershowers, accompanied by gusty winds ranging from 30-40 kmph, are anticipated in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada districts, as well as in Haveri, Dharwad, Belagavi, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Kodagu, Ramanagara, Mandya, and Davangere districts. Additionally, moderate rain and thundershowers, with gusty winds of 40-50 kmph, are expected in places like Bagalkote, Gadag, Koppal, Mysuru, Bengaluru Rural, and Bengaluru Urban districts.
Furthermore, light to moderate rain and thundershowers, accompanied by gusty winds of 40-50 kmph, are forecasted in Bidar, Kalaburgi, Raichur, Vijayapura, Yadgir, Ballari, Chamarajanagar, Chikkaballapura, Chitradurga, Kolar, Tumkur, and Vijayanagara districts.
According to IMD's predictions, Bengaluru is expected to reach a maximum temperature of 36.6°C and a minimum temperature of 20.4°C on Monday. Moderate rain and thundershowers, coupled with gusty winds of 40-50 kmph, are highly likely in Bengaluru Rural and Bengaluru Urban districts.

IMD's observations indicate that a trough or wind discontinuity from Marathwada to Comorin area now extends from East Madhya Pradesh to Comorin area across Vidarbha, Marathwada, Interior Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu at 0.9 km above mean sea level. Additionally, a cyclonic circulation lies over South Interior Karnataka and its neighboring areas at 1.5 km above mean sea level. However, the cyclonic circulation over the southeast Arabian Sea off the Kerala coast, previously noted at 1.5 km above mean sea level, has become less pronounced.
In summary, residents of Bengaluru and various parts of Karnataka should be prepared for continued heavy rainfall, accompanied by thundershowers and gusty winds. It is advisable to take necessary precautions and stay updated with weather forecasts issued by the Indian Meteorological Department.
