Up to 2nd January 2023, Goa won't impose any COVID-19-related limitations. As it braces to celebrate the New Year despite an upsurge in COVID-19 infections in multiple countries, Goa has pleaded with the general public not to panic but to ensure they take the necessary safeguards.
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that officials would examine the situation on January 3 after sitting over a high-level meeting. He further stated that individuals ought to deliberately adopt COVID-19 norms such as wearing masks.
The Chief Minister further said that the state will respond following the Centre's directives and that a mock drill will be held on 27th December to assess how prepared they are to deal with any further Coronavirus situation.
According to CM, the relevant authorities have already begun randomly testing foreign travellers arriving in Goa. With this, 2% of foreign travellers arriving in this exotic destination are being tested sincerely.
The Center has also asked that the states put the required infrastructure in place by 27th December and that international travellers be subjected to random testing. According to the Chief Minister, the Center has been encouraged by his government to offer COVID-19 booster doses.
Goa will likely have a substantial number of visitors for the grand New Year celebrations if, thus the administration has advised residents to make sure they wear masks to avoid becoming sick if Covid spreads in the state.
There were 14 active COVID-19 cases, according to the state health department's report from Thursday. The state's overall infection count increased to 2,59,062 so far, while the death toll stood at 4,013, with no new casualties, as one individual tested positive for Covid on Thursday, 22nd December 2022.
