As the Ganpati Festival approaches, Western Railway has taken significant steps to ensure smooth travel for the large number of passengers expected during this festive period. To manage the increased passenger flow, Western Railway has announced 56 special train trips that will run on various routes, including Vasai Road, Panvel, and Roha stations.

Special Trains for Ganpati Festival
Vineet Abhishek, the Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, provided detailed information about these special trains. The initiative aims to make travel easier and more convenient for passengers during Ganpati Utsav, which is celebrated with great enthusiasm, especially in Maharashtra.
The first set of special trains includes Train No. 09001/09002, known as the Mumbai Central - Thokur Weekly Special. This train will operate six trips during the festival season, offering a reliable option for travelers heading to their hometowns or pilgrimage sites.
Another significant service is the Mumbai Central - Sawantwadi Road Special, Train No. 09009/09010, which will run 26 trips, except on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. This train is expected to be particularly popular, given the high demand for travel to the Konkan region during Ganpati Utsav.
In addition, the Bandra Terminus - Kudal Weekly Special, Train No. 09015/09016, will operate six trips. This service is designed to accommodate the surge in travelers heading to Kudal, a key destination during the festival.
Additional Services
To further support the increased travel demand, Western Railway has introduced several other special trains. Train No. 09412/09411, the Ahmedabad - Kudal Weekly Special, will also operate six trips, providing more options for passengers traveling between these important destinations.
Another special service is the Vishvamitri - Kudal Weekly Special, Train No. 09150/09149, which will run for six trips. This ensures that passengers traveling from Vishvamitri to Kudal have sufficient travel options during the festive period.
The final pair of special trains is the Ahmedabad - Mangaluru Weekly Special, Train No. 09424/09423. This service will also run six trips and covers key destinations, helping to manage the festive rush effectively.

Additional Train Services by Indian Railways
In addition to the 56 special trains by Western Railway, the Indian Railways has announced that it will operate around 304 special trains to manage the increased passenger traffic during Ganesh Chaturthi 2024. This includes seven special trains by the Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) scheduled for September. The ten-day festival, which starts on September 7 and ends on September 16, sees lakhs of people traveling from Mumbai to their native places in Konkan.
