The Kanpur Metro project has reached a major milestone with the arrival of the 29th and final trainset for Corridor 1, which is 23.785 km from IIT Kanpur to Naubasta and includes 22 stations along its route. The last train arrived on 29 September and was unloaded at the Gurudev

Chauraha Depot. The 40-tonne coach was carefully lifted and placed onto the tracks using heavy-duty cranes. All the trains for this corridor have been manufactured at the Savli factory in Gujarat. With this delivery complete, the focus will now shift to Corridor 2, which will run between CSA and Barra-8. Moreover, ten more trainsets will be procured for that section.
Total Trainsets for Corridor 1 & 2
Sushil Kumar, Managing Director of the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC), congratulated the team on this achievement. He explained that a total of 29 trains will operate on Corridor-1. When both corridors are combined, there will be a total of 39 trains, with each consisting of three coaches. He also mentioned that after the extension up to Naubasta is fully operational, the larger fleet will allow trains to run more frequently. This will make metro travel faster, smoother, and more convenient for passengers.
With the final train now in place, Kanpur Metro is one step closer to offering better and more efficient transportation to the commuters.
