Delhi is gearing up for a boost in transport connectivity, with two major projects expected to launch around September 17, the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. These include the 82 km Namo Bharat rapid rail corridor between Delhi, Ghaziabad, & Meerut, and the 12.3 km Majlis Park-Maujpur metro

corridor, an extension of the Pink Line.
Delhi Namo Bharat Corridor Metro Details
The Namo Bharat corridor's 55 km is already functional, from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South across 11 stations out of the 82 km corridor. Trial runs on the remaining stretch have been completed, and once fully operational, trains will run every 10 minutes instead of the current 15 minutes. The journey from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Modipuram in Meerut will take just 58 minutes. Of the three Delhi stations, Anand Vihar and New Ashok Nagar are open, while Sarai Kale Khan will soon serve as a major transport hub, linking the metro, Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station, Veer Haqeeqat Rai ISBT, and bus services.
Delhi Namo Bharat Corridor Metro Connections
The Pink Line extension, part of Delhi Metro's Phase IV, connecting Majlis Park to Maujpur, will be functional this month. With this, the Pink Line will form a complete loop, making it one of the longest continuous metro corridors of Delhi. This 12.3 km stretch adds eight elevated stations, including Burari, Sonia Vihar, Bhajanpura, Yamuna Vihar, and a few. The line also features Delhi's first 1.4 km double-decker viaduct at Bhajanpura-Yamuna Vihar, with metro tracks above and road traffic below, giving a new look to Northeastern Delhi. Another highlight is a new Yamuna bridge, the fifth crossing for the Delhi Metro.
Development of Other Metro Lines
The Majlis Park-Maujpur section is the first corridor of Phase IV to near completion, while other approved corridors, RK Ashram-Janakpuri West, and Aerocity-Tughlaqabad. Moreover, three corridors under Phase IV expansion, Lajpat Nagar to Saket G Block, Inderlok to Indraprastha, and Rithala-Narela-Kundli routes also received approval in 2024. In total, Delhi Metro is adding 112 km of new lines under this expansion. These projects promise a smoother, faster, and more sustainable travel across the capital region.
