Narendra Modi will visit Meerut today to launch several major transport and development projects. During the visit, he will flag off the Meerut Metro and the Namo Bharat Train, inaugurate parts of India's first Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), and dedicate the full 82-km Delhi-Meerut corridor to

the nation. He will also launch projects worth about ₹12,930 crore. Around 12:30 PM, the Prime Minister will flag off the trains at Shatabdi Nagar station and then take a metro ride to Meerut South. At about 1:00 PM, he will officially inaugurate the projects and address a public gathering.
Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor
The entire Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor will now be operational. This includes newly completed sections like the 5-km stretch between Sarai Kale Khan and New Ashok Nagar in Delhi, and the 21-km stretch between Meerut South and Modipuram. The Namo Bharat trains are designed to run at speeds of up to 180 kmph, making travel between cities faster and more convenient. The route connects important places such as Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Modinagar, and Meerut with Delhi. Sarai Kale Khan station will act as a major transport hub, linking railways, bus services, and metro lines. New stations like Shatabdi Nagar, Begumpul, and Modipuram are located in Meerut.
Meerut Metro Services
The Prime Minister will also announce Meerut Metro services between Meerut South and Modipuram. In a unique feature, both the Namo Bharat RRTS and Meerut Metro will run on the same tracks. The Meerut Metro will be the fastest in India, about 120 kmph, completing the journey in around 30 minutes.
This combined system will make both intercity and local travel quicker and smoother. It is expected to reduce traffic congestion and lower pollution levels while improving daily travel and quality of life for people.
