The Hyderabad Metro Rail is facing a serious space issue as passengers continue to struggle with overcrowding, even during non-peak hours. Commuters complained that finding space inside trains has become difficult, and the problem worsens during rainy days when more people prefer the Metro over road transport, considering it a

horror journey.
Addition of New Train Sets by Hyderabad Metro is Delayed
Earlier in January, Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited had promised to add 10 new train sets to ease the rush; however, this plan has not been implemented yet, and it might take 18 months, as no orders have been placed so far. However, Kolkata Metro has recently expanded its services by adding 16 new coaches imported from China. The Hyderabad Metro, operated by L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Ltd. (L&TMRHL), has also been facing financial challenges, and the company has been seeking government support, hinting at dropping the plan. This uncertainty has created concern among commuters who rely on the service every day.
The Hyderabad Metro will complete eight years of operations in November and carries 5 lakh passengers daily. With such high demand, the need for additional trains and longer six-coach sets has become urgent. In January, L&TMRHL had announced that it would order 10 new trains with three coaches each. Former Managing Director of Hyderabad Metro Rail, N.V.S. Reddy, earlier pointed out that Hyderabad is the only city in India that uses its entire fleet every day. All 57 trains are currently running to meet passenger needs; without expansion, the overcrowding problem will only worsen with time.
