Bengaluru's Namma Metro has received all six coaches for its fifth trainset on the Yellow Line, raising hopes that train frequency on the newly opened route will improve to about 15 minutes by October. According to officials from the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), three coaches arrived at the

Hebbagodi depot late on Sunday night, while the remaining three reached around midnight on Monday. Coaches numbered 1, 2, and 5 came first, followed by 3, 4, and 6. The coaches were manufactured by Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL) in West Bengal and were transported on trailers starting September 19. Like the previous fourth trainset, this fifth one is also fully made in India and is expected to begin passenger service by mid-October. Once functional, trains on the Yellow Line will arrive every 15-16 minutes.
Conduction of Trial Runs
The trailers, operated by the global logistics company Total Movements, covered a long distance of 2,036 km in 11 days, averaging around 185 km per day. The coaches will now be assembled into a complete trainset and shifted to the Inspection Bay Line at the Hebbagodi depot for initial static testing. After that, two weeks of night trial runs will be conducted on the mainline.
Namma Metro's Yellow Line Improved Frequencies
The Yellow Line is 19.15 km long and connects RV Road to Bommasandra via Silk Board Junction, which was opened on August 11 with only three trainsets and a frequency of 25 minutes. The frequency improved to 19 minutes on September 10 after the fourth trainset was added, and the Yellow Line sees around 84,000 passengers daily. With this addition, Bengaluru's metro network has expanded to 96.1 km, and overall daily ridership has crossed one million. TRSL is producing these trains under a sub-contract with China's CRRC Nanjing Puzhen, which has been awarded a ₹1,578-crore contract to supply 36 trainsets. Moreover, three more trains are expected to be delivered by the end of the year.
