Air India has announced the commencement of non-stop flights from Mumbai to Melbourne, serving as a significant move in expanding its global network and providing seamless travel experiences for flyers. The airline's latest offering aims to connect the two cities directly, catering to the needs of the Indian community in Melbourne and fostering business and leisure travel between the two regions.

The Mumbai-Melbourne direct flight route, set to begin operations from December 15, has garnered attention for its effort to offer a convenient and uninterrupted travel option for passengers. Air India plans to operate these flights thrice a week, enhancing travel accessibility between the two destinations.

With an estimated Indian diaspora of over 200,000 in Victoria, the new service is expected to directly benefit the Indian community residing in Australia. By adding an estimated 39,000 to 40,000 seats annually, Air India aims to contribute significantly to the travel needs of the Indian populace in Victoria state.

The carrier has already been operating direct flight services to Melbourne and Sydney from Delhi, fostering seamless connectivity between India and Australia. Travellers from 17 cities across India can access convenient one-stop connections to and from Melbourne via Delhi or Mumbai, further streamlining the travel process and providing enhanced travel connectivity for flyers.

The Mumbai-Melbourne route will be facilitated by Air India's Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft, offering a two-class configuration with 18 flat beds in business class and 238 seats in economy class. This configuration aims to provide a comfortable and efficient travel experience for passengers.
