Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MAHA Metro) has announced a new tender for civil construction work worth ₹2,237 million under the Thane Integral Ring Metro Project. This move is seen as a major step towards expanding metro services in Thane and strengthening the city's public transport system.

Elevated Metro Stations
The contract mainly involves building six elevated metro stations along the planned metro route. These stations will be located at Dr Kashinath Ghanekar Natyagruha, Manpada, Dongripada, Vijay Nagari, Waghbil, and Waterfront. These stations form an important part of the Thane metro corridor and are expected to improve connectivity between different neighbourhoods of the city. As per the tender conditions, the construction work must be completed within 30 months from the date of award.
MAHA Metro's Bidding Process
MAHA Metro has also shared the key dates related to the bidding process. A pre-bid meeting has been scheduled for December 22, 2025, where interested companies can ask questions and clear their doubts about the project. The deadline for submitting bids is January 22, 2026. The tender has been released under the reference number T1-023/C-02/2025.
Thane Metro Project
The Thane Metro Phase 1 project, officially known as the Thane Integral Ring Metro, is planned as a 29-kilometre-long rapid transit system. It will feature a single circular route with a total of 22 metro stations. The metro line will run mainly along the western side of Thane city.
After completion, the project is expected to improve daily travel for residents. It aims to reduce traffic congestion, save travel time, and provide a safe and dependable transport option. The metro will also promote eco-friendly travel by encouraging people to use public transport instead of private vehicles.
