Delhi is currently facing a strong heatwave, with very high temperatures and hot winds making the weather extremely uncomfortable. In many parts of the city, the temperature has crossed 43°C, marking the first major heatwave of the season. The intense heat has made daytime conditions difficult for residents, but weather

experts say some relief may arrive soon with rain and strong winds.
Delhi Heatwave
On Friday, most areas in Delhi recorded temperatures above 40°C. The Ridge weather station reported the highest temperature at 43.1°C, while Safdarjung, the city's main weather station, recorded 41.9°C, which is much higher than normal. The minimum temperature was around 24.5°C. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) officially confirmed heatwave conditions as temperatures in several places rose well above average levels.
Reason behind the Heat
Experts say that hot winds coming from desert regions like the Thar Desert and parts of Balochistan are causing the sharp rise in temperature. Clear skies, dry air, and strong sunlight have also contributed to the extreme heat. These conditions have created the perfect environment for a heatwave to develop and continue. The high temperatures have affected daily life in the city. Many people are avoiding going outside during the afternoon when the heat is at its peak. Even though the winds are blowing at 10 to 20 km per hour, they are hot and provide very little relief.
Delhi Rain Alert
However, there is hope for improvement in the coming days. Weather experts predict that a cyclonic system may develop over Rajasthan and nearby regions around April 26. This could bring strong winds, thunderstorms, and light rain to Delhi and nearby areas early next week, helping to lower temperatures.
