Booking tips: Tatkal, current, QR platform tickets
Tatkal opens one day prior: 10 am for AC, 11 am for non‑AC. Aadhaar authentication is now mandatory on IRCTC for Tatkal users. After charting, try Current Booking for released berths. For unreserved and platform tickets, scan station QR codes in RailOne and buy digitally at the platform.
Station strategy during Ganeshotsav rush
Reach CSMT, LTT, and Panvel early for evening departures. KRCL says stations have crowd‑handling teams, medical posts from September 12, and additional staff. Consider originators at Bandra and Diva, which launch unreserved and MEMU extras, to avoid choke points. Pack compactly and follow RPF and station queueing instructions.
If reservations vanish, target Bandra unreserved specials or take Diva MEMUs to connect onward. Watch Current Booking around final charting, and check alternates to Sawantwadi, Ratnagiri, and Madgaon.
