Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the Meerut Metro and Namo Bharat services in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. He visited the Shatabdi Nagar Namo Bharat Station, where he flagged off the remaining sections of India's first Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) and the country's fastest metro service. the event, he also dedicated development projects worth nearly ₹12,930 crore to the nation.
Launch of Meerut Metro & Namo Bharat Services
After the inauguration, PM Modi addressed a large public gathering. He said that the launch of these services marks a new step towards building a developed Uttar Pradesh and a developed India. He highlighted that for the first time, both the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail and the Metro service were inaugurated from the same platform on the same day. According to him, this shows what modern connectivity in a developed India will look like.
Prime Minister's Opinions Regarding the Development
The Prime Minister expressed happiness that such important infrastructure projects have been completed in Uttar Pradesh. He said the event reflects the working style of the BJP's "double-engine government," referring to the party being in power at both the Centre and the state. He explained that their work culture focuses on completing projects on time once the foundation stone has been laid.
PM Modi added that the government is committed to working day and night to ensure that development projects are finished without unnecessary delays. He said improved transport facilities, including the Meerut Metro and Namo Bharat services, will make travel faster, easier, and more comfortable for people. These projects are expected to boost regional connectivity, support economic growth, and improve the daily lives of citizens in the region.
