The Gorakhnath Temple is the most famous temple of Gorakhnath and is aptly located at the centre of the city. It is said that the temple was built at the spot Saint Gorakhnath where meditated. The temple was built by his followers. The temple is a marvellous structure built over 52 acres of land. The main feature is the garb griha where saint Gorakhnath is portrayed as a manifestation of Lord Shiva. The pond next to the temple called Mansarovar is also a famous tourist site where visitors like to meditate or go for long boat rides.
Beginning from 14th January, a month long "Makar Sankranti Mela" is organised here. The meal attracts several lakhs of pilgrims and tourists.
