Youngest Girl To Reach The Base Camp Of Mount Everest Is Just 5 Years Old, Here Is Her Story

Before reading this article, can you close your eyes and imagine a 5-year-old girl climbing and reaching the base camp of Mount Everest crossing all the difficulties we all are aware of? Can you imagine this?

I get goosebumps writing this, but yes a 5-year-old girl, "Prisha Lokesh Nikajoo" from Betul district, Madhya Pradesh, India has achieved this milestone and became the youngest to reach the base camp of Mount Everest with her father, "Lokesh Nikajoo" at an altitude of 17598 feet for which it took 12 days to cover a distance of 130 kilometres.

Prisha arrived in Lukla (Nepal), set out on this record-breaking journey with her father on 24th May 2023, proudly carried the Indian flag to the Everest base camp on 1st June 2023, and later returned to Lukla (Nepal) on 4th June 2023.

the whole world is aware that it is not an easy trek to reach Mount Everest's base camp. It entails trekking through difficult terrain, harsh weather, and high altitude. The trail is lined with narrow bridges, rocky roads, and steep ascents and descents. To overcome these challenges, you must have a particular level of physical stamina and endurance.

For many mountaineers, climbing this spectacular peak has always been a dream. However, it is a difficult voyage that demands great physical strength, psychological stamina, and appropriate preparation.

Her story:

It was obviously not the first time that Prisha leaves the world in awe! Prisha started trekking when she was just 2.5 years old and you will be amazed to know what all she has achieved. She completed the Kalsubai trek, which is known as the highest peak in the Maharashtra district at the age of 3. Other than this, she had climbed many forts in Maharashtra including Singhgad, Visapur, Lohagad, etc.

In fact, Prisha's parents stated that she used to walk 5 to 6 miles daily along with aerobics, climbing the garden wall and stairs of her apartment while she was preparing for her Mount Everest Voyage with the help of her father, who is also a mountaineer.

Her family:

The fact that a 5-year-old girl was able to reach the base camp of Mount Everest is truly extraordinary. It showcases not only her determination but also the support and guidance she received from her family. It takes a great deal of preparation and planning to embark on such an expedition, especially with a young child.

Prisha's father, Lokesh Nikajoo is an IT professional settled in Mumbai and it is to be noted that he is an alumnus of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports which is based in Manali. Prisha has two more sisters and she is the one the most interested in mountains.

Like any other mountaineer, Prisha also has a dream to climb more peaks in Himalayas and Dhaulagiri region. According to her father, Lokesh, Priha will attempt to climb further peaks in other parts of the world that are between 5000 and 6000 meters high.

TR Nikajoo, the grandpa of Prisha, is a retired government teacher from the Madhya Pradesh town of Prabhat Pattan. At the moment, Prisha Nikajoo lives and studies in Thane, Mumbai.
