Kaziranga National Park is situated partly in Nagaon district and partly in Golaghat district of the Assam and covers an area of 430 sq kms along the Karbi Anglong hills on the South and Brahmaputra on its North. Kaziranga National Park has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers who throng here to be among the marvellous variety of wildlife found here. The park was officially opened for the tourist season on the 1st of November, 2014 and expects to see a good traffic of travellers who are keen the explore the park this season.
The park is famous globally for the endangered One-Horned Rhinoceros. The vista of the park comprises of the tall elephant grass, sheer woods, rugged reeds, shallow pools and marshes. It was declared as a national park in the year 1974. It boasts of many mammals including elephants, tigers, bears and panthers, and thousands of birds. The best time to visit the park is between November and April when the climate is pleasant and animals wander out of their hideouts.
