Himachal Pradesh is not just about Manali or Shimla. You will experience the virgin beauty of the region only when you go beyond the popular spots and explore. Sangla Valley in the Baspa river basin is one such pristine destinations which is a haven for nature lovers in Himachal Pradesh.

The imposing Himalayan mountains surrounded by the dense forests keep you stunned through your journey. The region is also called as Baspa Valley, a name derived from the river Baspa.

Where is Sangla Valley?

A voyage for about 300km from Manali takes you to Sangla. The Baspa Valley is located in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. The region from the Karcham to Chitkul belongs to the picturesque Sangla Valley.

Places to Visit in Sangla Valley

The lofty mountain landscapes and the serene ambience keep you engaged. However, there are many places which you can visit in Sangla Valley.

Kamru Fort

Kamru Fort is one of the oldest forts in Himachal Pradesh. It is located around 2km from the town of Sangla. Kamru Fort surrounded by many beautiful villages is one of the must visit tourist places in Sangla Valley.

Bering Nag Temple

Bering Nag Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The unique architecture of this temple makes it one of the prominent places in the Baspa Valley.

Sangla Buddhist Monastery

A big statue of Buddha and the exotic structure of Sangla Buddhist Monastery is worth a visit.

Chitkul

Chitkul is a small village in the Baspa river basin. The picturesque views of this village will make tourists amazed. Chitkul is about 22km from Sangla and it is also a camping place in Sangla Valley.

Other Attractions in Sangla

Sangla Meadow, Apple Orchards, Tibetan Wood Carving Centre, Rupin Pass, Rakcham and Trout Farm are the other places which you can explore in Sangla Valley.

Best Time to Visit Sangla Valley

The time of April - June and September - December are the best times to visit Sangla Valley. These are the ideal seasons for camping on the river basin.
