Shevaroy Hills

Shevaroy Hills

The Servarayan or Shevaroy Hills are one of the most scenic places in Tamil Nadu. It spans over 400 sq km and has green plateaus at elevations of over 1,120 mt. It also has one of the most popular hill stations in the south, Yercaud. The detached set of layered mountains is a delight for those seeking trekking and hiking trails as well as photo opportunities. The drive through the ghat section to Yercaud is also an experience not to be missed.

Kiliyur Falls

Kiliyur Falls

One of the best places to visit in Yercaud during or right after the monsoons is the Kiliyur Falls. Located at a short distance of just 2.5 km from the Yercaud Lake, the falls are in fact formed by the waters that overflow from the lake. Falling from a height of 300 ft, the cascading waters create a breathtaking sight! The approach is also interesting, with many picturesque views, the last few meters form a steep path, so be careful if you are driving yourself. Make sure a trip to Yercaud includes this popular sightseeing place.

It is true that water has life giving properties, and it is also a fact that water attracts large crowds. This holds true for the lake waters of Yercaud that is visited by droves of tourists, especially during peak season. Situated beautifully amongst thick vegetation, the lake also has parks and other amusement activities, making it an ideal destination for families with children. Activities such as boating are not to be missed as it allows you to soak in the natural grandeur of the surroundings.

Pagoda Point

Pagoda Point

Another viewpoint in Yercaud, the place is named after the stone pagodas that used to exist here, however, it now has a viewpoint structure and a temple. Benches are available around the area for visitors to relax and soak in the surrounding vistas. An idyllic place for picnics and relaxation. You can also see people indulging in fun activities such as enjoying the variety of snacks available and shopping for little pleasures such as the bubble maker!

Heaven's Ledge

A lovely west-facing cliff, the Heaven's Ledge is located in the Gowri Estate. The ledge is now a popular camp-site that attracts travellers. You can explore the beautiful forests that have earned Yercaud the tag of 'Lake Forest'. A walk through the mesmerising greenery will be unforgettable. You can also explore the many coffee estates and plantations on your treks. Another interesting option is a guided trek to the local caves; they are dark, mysterious and might have you walking in circles, returning to your point of origin! How to Reach Yercaud

How to Reach Yercaud

By Road: The route to Yercaud is considered one of the most scenic drives that also offers a 20 hairpin climb into the hills. The hill station is well-connected by Salem with roads to all major destinations. Located at a short distance from Bangalore (214 km), Coimbatore (194 km) and Trichy (174 km), it also proves to be an ideal weekend getaway.

By Rail: The nearest Railway Junction is Salem, located at a distance of about 32 km.

By Air: The nearest airport is in Trichy, located at a distance of 177 km from Yercaud. The other nearby airports include Coimbatore (186 km) and Bangalore 9215 km).
