As the 18th BRICS Leaders' Summit will be held from September 11 to 13 at Bharat Mandapam in Pragati Maidan, Delhi Police has advised commuters to expect temporary traffic restrictions and diversions in New Delhi during the BRICS Summit 2026. The movement of foreign leaders, senior delegations and security motorcades
is expected to affect traffic, particularly in central and south Delhi and on routes connecting major hotels, the summit venue, railway stations and the airport.
BRICS Summit 2026: List of Controlled Roads
Several important roads have been identified as controlled roads during the summit. These include Mathura Road from Subramaniam Bharti Marg to Lodhi Road Flyover, Tees January Marg, Janpath, Satya Marg, Prithvi Raj Road, Firoze Shah Road, Ashoka Road, Tughlak Road, Neela Gumbad, Panchsheel Marg, Mother Teresa Crescent, Teen Murti Marg, Africa Avenue, C Hexagon, Brig. Hoshiyar Singh Marg, Shanti Path, Sher Shah Suri Marg, San Martin Marg, Tilak Marg, Dr. Zakir Hussain Marg, Rajesh Pilot Marg, Akbar Road, Sardar Patel Marg, APJ Abdul Kalam Road, Kautilya Marg, Bhagwan Das Road, Kemal Ataturk Marg, Kartavya Path, Purana Quila Road, Safdarjung Road and Nyaya Marg.
BRICS Summit 2026: Advisory by Delhi Police
Delhi Police issued an advisory on 8 September, asking people to plan their journeys and allow extra travel time.
• Commuters should use the Metro and other public transport wherever possible and avoid unnecessary travel on roads affected by VVIP movements. Drivers have also been asked to follow police instructions, use suggested diversions and avoid parking at unauthorised locations.
• People travelling to airports and railway stations should leave early to avoid delays, or they should better travel by metro to the airport. Delhi Police has also advised commuters to check its official platforms and those of Delhi Traffic Police for real-time updates.
• Delhi Police has suggested alternate routes wherever restrictions are imposed. Medical vehicles, essential services and utility vehicles will receive priority and exemptions where required. Parking will be permitted only in authorised areas, while roadside parking within 200 metres of controlled roads will be strictly prohibited.
However, Metro services will continue to operate at all stations without disruption. Commuters are advised to check their routes and possible diversions before leaving, start their journeys early, and follow traffic instructions to avoid delays during the summit.
