Pangong lake is an epitome of natural craftsmanship! The lake has a chameleon like nature with it's colour being changed constantly. The first glimpse of this serene and pristine azure lake is enough to leave a lasting impression on your mind.
The route that leads to the lake is an attraction on it's own! The route passes through the picturesque Ladakh countryside and one has to cross the World's third highest motorable mountain pass called the Chang La. Traces of snow along with the green, brown and violet painted mountains in the backdrop welcome us!

The crystalline blue lake sprawls over an area of 100 kilometres across the Indo-China border. A narrow stretch of land goes straight into the lake which can be traversed. The place is a birders' paradise. The rodents here are said to grow up to the size of a dog!
During the Winters, the lake and it's vicinity is engulfed by freezing temperature. Despite being saline water, it freezes completely. A gala festival of Ice skating is organized on the frozen surface of lake which attracts large number of skiers and ice skaters from all around the world!

The Pangong Lake in Ladakh is one among the major tourist destinations in Jammu and Kashmir and India. It falls on the Sino-Indian Line of Actual Control and an Inner Line permission is required to visit this lake. If one needs to spend a night by the lake side, there are a couple of options that provide basic but clean and comfortable accommodation (tents and cottages).
