Bengaluru’s daytime coastal links face disruption from Sunday, October 4, 2026. South Western Railway begins cancelling Bengaluru–Mangaluru and Bengaluru–Karwar day trains on multiple dates through early November, citing tamping and material‑train blocks between Shrivagilu and Yedakumeri. Weekend plans to Udupi, Gokarna and Sakleshpur will need replanning this month.
Key cancellations run from October 4 to November 4. Yesvantpur–Mangaluru Gomateshwara Express 16575 is cancelled on 12 dates starting October 4; return 16576 is cancelled on the next‑day counterparts through November 4. Yesvantpur–Karwar 16515 and 16516 each have 11 cancellations from October 5 and 6. Weekly 16539 and 16540 face select Saturday–Sunday cancellations.

How to check NTES/139 and refunds
Check live status on the National Train Enquiry System app or website. Search by train or PNR and look for “Cancelled” or “Partially Cancelled”. You can also call 139. For cancelled trains, e‑ticket refunds are automatic; counter tickets get full refund at PRS counters within three days.
Best alternates—KSRTC Volvo, road via Shiradi/Charmadi, flights
KSRTC’s Airavat and Ambari buses run frequently on Bengaluru–Mangaluru, with dense evening departures; private operators add capacity. Shiradi Ghat has seen recent weekend delays; Charmadi can be quicker when Shiradi backs up. Flights operate four to six times daily between Bengaluru and Mangaluru; close‑in bookings turn costly, and seats tighten near weekends.
For Udupi or Gokarna, target buses or a Bengaluru–Mangaluru flight, then ride north. For Sakleshpur, Vistadome legs on 16575 or 16576 are off on many dates; switch to a road trip via Hassan, start early, and buffer delays. Rebook rail trips to unaffected dates and track advisories daily before departure.
