Weightlifting fairy- Saikhom Mirabai Chanu is proud of India as she is the winner of the silver medal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2021 and a Gold medal winner at the Olympics in Birmingham 2022. She is from a small village in Manipur, Nongpok Kakching.
Manipur itself is the most famous destination in the northeast circuit of India as it has natural beauty less pollution and hidden gems. Nongpok Kakching is situated in the southern part of Imphal valley. The village is known for its scenic beauty and rich biodiversity. The place is surrounded by hills, valleys, rivers, and lakes which makes it a perfect place for nature lovers to visit. In 2018, Kakching was also declared the cleanest city in North East India.
The villagers are fond of their culture, traditions, and festivals. They celebrate their festivals very well as well as give importance to education among them. More than 1000 families are living here and most of them belong to the Meitei ethnicity.
Mirabai Chanu's village is also known as 'Granary of Manipur' as the majority of Manipur's food grains are produced here by hard-working farmers of the state who are into farming for decades to produce the highest number of food grains in the state.

1) Kakching Garden:
Kakching Garden is a nice place to visit in Nongpok Kakching. It has a good collection of flowers and plants, which makes it a great place for nature lovers. The garden also has a beautiful flower-lined walkway and a lovely pond where you can relax after a long day of hiking around the area. Also, it's home to some interesting statues and monuments, including the statue of Hao Sampubi, Ibudhou Pakhang Laiseng, and The Mahadev Temple.
This Kakching Garden is very popular among tourists and also locals. The garden has many beautiful lakes and ponds where you can see swans, ducks, and other animals. You can also enjoy walking around the garden and taking pictures with your friends.
2) People's Museum:
This museum tells you about Manipur's history through many different exhibitions including those about ancient weapons and costumes. There are also many exhibits about art, including paintings from different periods in history as well as contemporary works by local artists. It also has displays of local folklore and culture, so if you want to learn more about Manipurian history, this is the place for you!
