Mysore Pak
Served as dessert this sweet makes use of generous helpings of ghee, sugar and gram flour. Pak or Paka in Kannada means sugar syrup. According to popular legend, Mysore Pak was created in the kitchens of the Mysore Palace and the king relished the sweet so much that he ordered that shops be set up outside the Palace to make the sweet available to commoners.

Davanagere Benne Dose
Benne Dosa traces its origin to the city of Davanagere. 'Benne' translates into 'butter' in English. This type of dosa is made up with addition of large helpings of dosa to a normal dosa.

Maddur vada
It is a snack that derives its name from the town of maddur in Mandya district of the state. It is made of rice flour, semolina and maida flour which are mixed with sliced onion, curry leaves, grated coconut and asafoetida.

Jolad Roti
Very thin and soft, this is a specialty from North Karnataka which is made out of jowar (sorghum). It is part of staple food in North Karnataka where it is eaten with pulse curries like jhunka, enne gai or assorted chutnies.

Dharwad Pedha
Deriving its name from the city of Dharwad in Karnataka, this sweet's history is around 175 years old when the Thakur family migrated to Dharwad from Unnao in Madhya Pradesh in the 19th century. Shri Ram Ratan Singh started making pedhas which gradually became popular. His grandson, Babu Singh Thakur, stepped up efforts to build up the reputation of the pedhas. The technique of preparing these pedhas remains a closely guarded secret.

Mangalore Goli Bajji
A small ball shaped tea time snack common to Mangalore, Mangalore Bajji is made from maida, curd, rice flour, chopped onion, coriander leaves, coconut, jeera, green chillies, and salt.

Bidadi Thatte Idli
Bidadi, a town situated on the Bangalore- Mysore express highway, in the taluk of Ramanagaram, is famous for its Idlis served with potato sagu and red chutney( made out of red chilli and garlic).
