Off to the Enchanting Dzukou Valley in Nagaland!

Kohima is one of the lovely destinations in the North Eastern state of Nagaland, which also shares its borders with Burma. The place is also quite close to Manipur. Among the top attractions of Kohima is the Dzukou Valley, which is often called the Valley of Flowers!

Let's explore this beautiful destination that is known for its mesmerising beauty and scenic views.

Dzukou Valley is located at the border of Nagaland and Manipur, and is around 30km away from Kohima. This is one place that would make you a poet, such is the beauty of this little paradise on earth.

The valley can be reached by a trekking trail from Mount Isii in Manipur, which was opened by MMTA (Manipur mountaineering & Trekking Association). The valley is a visual treat with its seasonal flowers, flora and fauna, the beautiful skies above and the pleasant weather.

The wide range of flowers that bloom here during each season make it the Valley of Flowers. Of all the flowers that the place flaunts, the one that stands out is the dzuko lily.

Other trek routes to reach Dzukou Valley include one that is from the foothills of Viswema village in Nagaland. This is a 17km route which is less challenging. Whereas the other trek route which is from Jakhma Village in Nagaland is more challenging, but you can reach the guest house in less than 5 hours, after which you have to climb down the hills, which may take around an hour.

Permissions to enter the place

An inner line permission is required for travellers to enter Nagaland. This permit is issued by the Nagaland House at Dimapur, Kolkata and Guwahati in India. However, the rules are different for foreign vivitor. Foreigners have to register themselves at a local government office at Dimapur or Kohima.

The Best Time to Visit Dzukou Valley

Though any time can be chosen to visit the place, the weather is at its best from June to September. The valley would be in full bloom, filled with many flowers that include lilies and wild rhododendrons.

Some of the places you can choose to stay at Kohima include Hotel Japfu, Razhu Pru, Aradura Inn and Hotel Capital.
