Bengaluru Traffic Alert: Avoid Freedom Park and KG Road Today Amid Protest Diversions

Bengaluru’s central grid faces traffic curbs today, September 2, from 8 am to 6 pm. A Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee protest is planned at Freedom Park. Expect slow traffic on KG Road, Seshadri Road, Palace Road and the Gandhinagar belt. Police urge alternative routes and disciplined parking to keep CBD movement steady.

From Mysore Bank via KG Road, take Maharani underpass to Palace Cross Road for right turns. Freedom Park junction to Kanakadasa Circle is shut in both directions. Use the old JDS office road from Khode Junction to reach KR Circle faster. Subbanna Junction to MTR Junction operates two‑way for Gandhinagar access. Parking is banned on Y Ramachandra, Kalidasa, Palace and KG Roads near the park.

Bengaluru traffic today: Best routes and Freedom Park diversions

To bypass the Central Business District, follow Race Course Road and Nehru Circle towards Chalukya. Basaveshwara Circle offers cleaner merges towards Palace Road and Vasanth Nagar. From Shanthala or Khoday, loop via KFM Road, Swastik and Seshadripuram. From Mysore Bank towards Chalukya, consider Tank Bund Road and Swastik Circle. These tested detours eased delays during earlier Freedom Park curbs this year.

Metro options and gates near Freedom Park

Ride the Purple Line to Sir M Visvesvaraya (Central College). The park is about 400 metres away. Interchange at Majestic if needed; prefer Gate D for the BMTC walkway connection. Approaching from MG Road or Cubbon Park, Dr B R Ambedkar station is convenient. Use Gate D here, which faces Reserve Bank of India and Cubbon Park. Metro helps skip CBD signals and today’s no‑parking stretches around the park.

BMTC route tweaks, peak windows and parking alerts

BMTC buses may face spot diversions near KG Road and Seshadri Road during assemblies and dispersal. If your stop is skipped, head to Majestic or KR Circle, where services regroup. For live route help or missed‑trip support, call the BMTC control room at 080‑22483777. Plan arrivals before 8:30 am or after 11 am; return post 7 pm to reduce delays.
