The Railway Board Building, Shimla

The Railway Board Building is one of the unique constructions located on the road leading to the Mall. The construction work was the expertise of the Mumbai-based firm, Richardson and Cruddas, who used cast iron and steel to make it fire resistant.

This smart structure was built in 1896-1897 and served as an office for various government departments over the years. The building got its present name when it served as an office of the railway board in the year 1923.
