Sankat Mochan Temple is a popular shrine perched at an elevation of 1975 m above sea level on the Kalka-Shimla Highway. This temple is devoted to the Lord Hanuman, and it offers mesmerising views of the Shimla Town and the mighty Himalayan Ranges. Baba Neeb Karori Ji Maharaj visited this place in the year 1950 and mesmerised by the tranquillity of the place, founded this temple in 1966, which was expanded by the administration later. The temple is divided in to separate complexes, which are enshrined with the idols of Lord Shiva, Lord Rama, and Lord Ganesha. The design of the Ganesha temple reveals South Indian architectural style. Prasad, also known as ‘Langar’ is distributed among devotees on every Sunday around the year. The temple also offers facilities to organise different rituals including marriages.
