Shri Mahaveerji Temple, Sawai Madhopur

Shri Mahaveerji temple is one of holiest Jain pilgrimage sites in Rajasthan. It lies on the banks of the Gambhir river, in Chandanpur, a small village of Sawai Madhopur. The main attraction out here is the sandstone statue of Lord Mahavira in the Padmasana posture. The other idols in the temple are Lord PushpaDanta, Lord Shantinath and Lord Adinath.

The best time to visit the temple is during the annual fair, which is held in the months of March and April. During the festivities, the high point is the immersion of the sacred idol of Lord Mahavira in the holy waters of Gambhir river. The temple during that time is thronged by Jain pilgrims, coming from all parts of the country to seek the blessings of the Tirthankaras.
