2

Tsarap Chu river is one of the prime attractions of Sarchu. The river, flowing along the Manali-Leh highway, is fed by the melting glaciers of the Rupshu Plateau. The Tsarap Chu joins the Doda river, flowing into the Padum Valley, and forms the mighty Zanskar river. This place also serves as a trekking base for the tourists who wish to explore the Zanskar region of Ladakh.

The best time to visit the area is during the summer season, June to October, as the average temperature of the place remains at about 25°C. Winters, October to May, are unfavourable for a trip to the region as temperatures during this time can fall to as low as 38Ëš C. Besides, this region also receives heavy snowfall causing the closing down of the highway.
