Sarchu is a popular resting base for tourists travelling from Manali to Leh, placed 475 km from each other. Tourists making a stop at Sarchu are provided with food and basic accommodation facilities like tents. The camping site, however, remains closed during winter due to heavy snow.
Tourists are advised to visit this place during summers, between June and October as the weather remains favourable for travel. Sarchu also serves as a trekking base for the travellers wishing to trek across the Zanskar region of Ladakh.
