Two newly launched Amrit Bharat Express trains have begun providing services to passengers at important railway stations across the western and southern districts of Tamil Nadu, improving connectivity in the region.
Amrit Bharat Express Trains
The weekly Amrit Bharat Express running between Charlapalli in Hyderabad, Telangana, and Thiruvananthapuram North started its journey on January 27. On Wednesday morning, the train passed through Coimbatore Junction at 4.57 a.m. Before that, it crossed Salem Junction at 12.37 a.m., Erode Junction at 3.10 a.m., and Tiruppur Junction at 3.58 a.m. The train stopped briefly at these stations, for three minutes at Coimbatore and Salem, five minutes at Erode, and two minutes at Tiruppur.
How Will These Trains Benefit Passengers?
This train is especially useful for passengers travelling to Kerala during daytime hours. After leaving Tamil Nadu, it passes through several major stations in Kerala, including Palakkad, Thrissur, Aluva, Ernakulam Town, Kottayam, Changanasseri, Tiruvalla, Chengannur, Mavelikara, Kayamkulam, Karunagapalli, Kollam, and Varkala, before reaching Thiruvananthapuram North.
On its return journey, the train passes through Coimbatore Junction early on Thursdays at 2.27 a.m. It then stops at Tiruppur at 3.13 a.m., Erode at 4.25 a.m., and Salem at 5.25 a.m.
Nagercoil Junction-New Jalpaiguri Amrit Bharat
Another important service is the Nagercoil Junction-New Jalpaiguri Amrit Bharat Weekly Express (Train No. 20604). Railway officials believe this train will help boost tourism and trade, benefiting local economies. The train passed through Coimbatore Junction on Monday at 6.32 a.m., followed by Tiruppur at 7.23 a.m., Erode at 8.10 a.m., and Salem at 9.22 a.m.
On its return trip, the train reaches Coimbatore Junction at 2.27 p.m. on Fridays, after stopping at Salem, Erode, and Tiruppur. It also serves the Kongu region and southern districts, with stoppages at Pollachi, Udumalpet, Palani, Dindigul, Madurai, Virudunagar, Sattur, Kovilpatti, and Tirunelveli.
