Dubai is set to become part of the UAE's expanding passenger rail network with the launch of its first Etihad Rail passenger train service on Wednesday, September 30. The new service, operated by Etihad Rail Mobility, will connect Dubai with Abu Dhabi and Fujairah. The journey from Dubai to Abu Dhabi will take 64 minutes, while the Dubai-Fujairah trip will take 70 minutes.
Launch of Etihad Rail Passenger Train
The newly inaugurated Dubai station will provide passengers with rail connectivity to Abu Dhabi and other parts of the UAE. The station is linked to Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro station through a dedicated pedestrian bridge, making it easier for passengers to transfer between Etihad Rail and Dubai Metro services.
Ticket bookings for both routes are already open through the Etihad Rail mobile app, website and ticket vending machines at stations. The service is also integrated with Dubai's Nol system. Passengers can use a single QR code for Etihad Rail trains as well as Metro, Tram and bus services.
For Dubai-Abu Dhabi, fares start at AED 39 for Comfort Class and AED 109 for Premium Class. On the Dubai-Fujairah route, Comfort Class fares begin at AED 29, while Premium Class tickets start at AED 89.
Five trains will initially operate between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. From Dubai, departures are scheduled at 6:14 am, 7:14 am, 1:14 pm, 5:14 pm and 6:14 pm. The corresponding arrivals in Abu Dhabi are at 7:18 am, 8:18 am, 2:18 pm, 6:18 pm and 7:18 pm.
From Abu Dhabi, trains will leave at 6:43 am, 7:43 am, 12:43 pm, 4:43 pm and 5:43 pm, reaching Dubai at 7:47 am, 8:47 am, 1:47 pm, 5:47 pm and 6:47 pm.
One train will operate each way between Dubai and Fujairah. The Dubai-Fujairah service leaves at 1:57 pm and reaches Fujairah at 3:07 pm. The Fujairah-Dubai train departs at 11:54 am and arrives at 1:04 pm. The trains can run at speeds of up to 200 kmph, while each of the 13 trains can carry up to 400 passengers.
