Visa-on-Arrival Facility Now Open For Three Countries In India

India has initiated a visa-on-arrival scheme for citizens of Japan, South Korea, and the UAE, aiming to simplify travel for tourism, business, conferences, and medical purposes. This facility is available at six major airports across India, enhancing ease of access and promoting international relations.

The Indian government has introduced a visa-on-arrival scheme for citizens of Japan, South Korea, and the UAE. This new facility is available for tourism, business, conferences, and medical purposes. It can be accessed at six airports: Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Mumbai.

Eligibility Criteria

Only nationals from Japan, South Korea, and the UAE who have previously obtained an e-Visa or a regular paper visa for India are eligible for this visa-on-arrival. The visa is valid for 60 days and allows travellers to visit India up to two times within that period.

There are specific rules for UAE nationals under this scheme. UAE citizens who have not previously obtained an e-Visa or regular paper visa must apply for one before travelling to India. Additionally, Pakistan-origin UAE nationals are not eligible for the visa-on-arrival scheme.

General Regulations

Several regulations apply uniformly to all eligible travellers. For instance, individuals whose parents or grandparents were born in Pakistan or are permanent residents of Pakistan cannot use this facility. They must obtain an appropriate visa from the concerned Indian Mission/Post.

The visa-on-arrival is non-extendable and non-convertible. Holders of Diplomatic/Official passports are also not eligible for this facility.

Application Process

Japanese, South Korean, and UAE nationals must fill out an application form (Annexure I) to avail the visa-on-arrival. The Indian government advises travellers to download the form from the portal, print it out, fill it in advance, and present it to the 'Visa Officer' at the arrival counter. Alternatively, they can fill out the form upon arrival.

The physical format of the form will also be available from airlines on board the flight. Travellers need to carry a duly filled 'VoA Application Form' along with a disembarkation card.

Specific Instructions for UAE Nationals

The Visa-on-Arrival Scheme applies to UAE nationals who have previously obtained an e-Visa or regular/paper visa for India. Those visiting India for the first time should apply for an e-Visa or regular/paper visa instead.

"All other terms & conditions applicable for grant of Visa-on-Arrival to Japanese and South Korean nationals will be applicable to UAE national also," stated the Indian visa portal.

This initiative aims to simplify travel procedures and encourage more visitors from these countries. It reflects India's efforts to strengthen international relations through easier travel access.
