The Lufthansa Stopover Program, a collaboration between Munich Airport and Lufthansa, has expanded; Lufthansa passengers traveling from China, India, Japan, South Korea, and Thailand can now make use of this opportunity. Travelers from these countries can extend their stay during a layover in Munich and explore the Bavarian state capital

and its surrounding area. Although the joint initiative was launched earlier in the spring, it covered Singapore and the USA. With this expansion into five additional international markets, even more international guests now have the chance to enjoy a short getaway in Munich and Bavaria.
How to Plan a Trip to Munich & Bavaria through the Stopover Program?
For many Lufthansa passengers, the Munich hub acts as their first point of contact with Bavaria. The Stopover Program offers ideas on planning a visit to Munich and the region. Currently, twelve partners are involved in the program, providing hotel accommodations, rental cars, sightseeing opportunities, and shopping options. Visitors can plan their time flexibly, with stays ranging from 24 hours to seven days. The Stopover Program can be booked via the Lufthansa website (www.lufthansa.com).
How will the Lufthansa Stopover Program be an Advantage to Passengers & Local Tourism Providers?
Heiko Reitz, Executive Board Member and Hub Manager Munich, stated that as several passengers want to discover Munich and Bavaria as an additional travel destination apart from the usual transfer, they can experience local culture, cuisine, and tourist attractions with the help of the Lufthansa Stopover Program. Moreover, he focused on expanding the program to include further markets and tourism partners, offering international travelers an even wider range of attractive options in Munich and Bavaria.
Jost Lammers, CEO of Munich Airport, also added that Bavaria is one of Germany's most popular travel destinations and this stopover program will create additional opportunities to attract international travelers to Munich and the region. Local tourism providers and other businesses stand to benefit from this. The project demonstrates how Munich Airport and Lufthansa can link international demand with what the region has to offer.
