Tamil Nadu Special Buses from August 21 to 23: TNSTC have Announced 2675 Buses Across the State

The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporations (TNSTCs) have announced 2,675 special buses across the state to manage the expected increase in passenger traffic during the weekend from August 21 to 23. The additional services are aimed at people travelling to their hometowns and reducing overcrowding on regular buses.

Tamil Nadu Special Buses from August 21 to 23

From the Kilambakkam bus terminus in Chennai, special buses will operate to several major destinations, including Tiruvannamalai, Tiruchy, Kumbakonam, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Nagercoil, Kanniyakumari, Thoothukudi, Coimbatore, Salem, Erode and Tirupur.

A total of 890 special buses will operate on August 21, while another 820 buses will run on August 22. These additional services are expected to help passengers travel more comfortably during the weekend rush.

Special buses will also be operated from the Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus (CMBT). Services from here will connect passengers with destinations such as Tiruvannamalai, Nagapattinam, Velankanni, Hosur and Bengaluru. Around 110 special buses will operate on both August 21 and 22.

The Madhavaram Bus Terminus will also have additional services to places including Kallakurichi, Tiruvannamalai, Tiruchy, Kumbakonam, Vellore, Hosur and Puducherry. Around 80 special buses will operate from Madhavaram on each of the two days.
Transport authorities have also planned services for passengers returning to Chennai and Bengaluru after the weekend. Around 465 special buses will operate from different parts of Tamil Nadu on August 23.

The decision comes as bookings have already shown strong demand. So far, 46,901 passengers have booked tickets for travel during the weekend. Of these, 18,762 bookings were made for Friday, 10,461 for Saturday and 17,678 for Sunday.

With more passengers expected to make travel plans, the transport corporations may increase services if required. The additional buses are intended to ensure smoother travel and provide more options for passengers during the busy weekend.
