The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) and Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) have reviewed the progress of two metro stations planned near Kempegowda International Airport. The two organisations have also set timelines for completing the remaining work at the Airport Terminal Metro Station and Airport West Metro Station.

Bengaluru Metro & BIAL's Timelines to Complete Airport Metro Stations
A coordination meeting was held on Thursday and was led by BMRCL Managing Director P C Jaffer and BIAL Managing Director and CEO Hari Marar. Officials from both organisations discussed the work that still needs to be completed and issues related to coordination between the two agencies.
The discussions covered several important areas, including track work, traction, signalling, architectural finishing and other construction activities. Officials also inspected the Airport Terminal Metro Station to check progress of passenger facilities and different systems being installed at the station.
Bengaluru's Airport Metro Station to Provide Direct Connectivity
The Airport Terminal Metro Station is expected to provide direct metro connectivity to Terminal 2 of Kempegowda International Airport. Passengers travelling to Terminal 1 will also be able to use the metro station. Terminal 1 will connect to the station via a foot overbridge fitted with escalators, making it easier for passengers to walk between the two locations. The station will also offer several facilities aiming to make air travel more convenient. These include baggage-screening systems, baggage-drop facilities and check-in counters.
The metro station is being developed as part of the airport's multi-modal transport hub. This will allow passengers to connect easily with other modes of transport, including car parking areas and intra-city and inter-city bus services.
BMRCL and BIAL officials have now agreed on timelines for the pending works. The coordination is expected to help ensure that different construction and installation activities are completed in a planned manner.
